Bertini is a family business of feminine accessories founded in 1925 by Michele Bertini.
At the start, the company specialised in manufacturing traditional Florentine straw hats until the mid 1950s. Then, Michele’s children, Giovanni and Giovanna, started to manufacture handmade handbags made of straw or natural fibres. Since the mid 1990s, it has been Caterina who is in charge of the family business, and belongs to the third-generation of Bertini’s. Caterina gets her inspiration from the vast image collection from the 1960s and 1970s in the company photographic archives. It is also her who developed new fabrics such as crochet or macramé. All brand products are handmade in Italy and the wool comes from Prato.
Several years back, we were taken by Caterina’s famous crochet bag. It is available in mini, medium, or large model. You can wear it with a long or short chain, gold or silver, or rather more relaxed with a cotton braided strap. When it comes to fabrics, « the sky is the limit » with raffia, wool, cotton, lurex or all of that mixed together and colours are chosen depending on the harmony of the season.
