“Is it really reasonable to wear matching outfits as a couple?”
This was the title of the article written by Marc Beaugé in last week’s magazine M Le Monde.
He wrote: “it seems possible to assert with confidence that couples who wear matching outfits, (…) function rarely better together than the duos in which each person distinguishes themselves (…).”
To distinguish oneself as a secret for a beaming future as a couple. This is well said, Marc!
At Victoire, we ardently defend Style with a capital S. The one that doesn’t follow trends, fashions, and even less others. It is far from the uniform that you put on every morning, and it is out of the question to copy your neighbour. You must assert your style, the one that defines you: it is about instinct, boldness, and freedom!
Of course, over time, copycat behaviour can take hold for a couple who have known each other for a long time. You talk the same, you finish each other’s sentences… You can even dress (a bit) the same… It is a kind of harmony that allows you to last.
And then one day, without notice, you end up with totally matching outfits and frankly, you look lousy. It is precisely the moment when you need to say STOP!
Because true secret for longevity — and our friend Marc wouldn’t say anything different — it’s about distinguishing yourself… and working on your style. Everything that prevents you from being your other half spitting image which makes couple life exciting and unpredictable, year after year.
To illustrate what I mean by that, we made for you a little series of pictures of totally matching outfits couple — do not try this at home… except for laugh!
Have a nice long weekend, and let’s get out into the countryside,
