As you know, Victoire was not born yesterday.
In the 1970s and 1980s, the first shop on Place des Victoires offered an avant-garde kind of fashion and made women discover genius pieces of clothing, great names of fashion from today (Prada, Gucci, and so on), the “mix and match” art… and Italy.
In the 1990s, we launched a meticulous selection process looking for exclusive small designers, still unknown, that we put in the spotlight. AND then, our “home made” brand was born, a mass of our style… And most of all, it was a way of avoiding our frustrations unsatisfied desires.
When taken together, it is already almost 65 years of fashion history!
When I arrived in 2020, I immediately felt the need to dive into these years, but almost everything had disappeared, lost, sorted, mislaid over time.
I set myself a bit crazy quest: rebuilding Victoire’s memory. Finding these pieces which embody our style, standing the test of years. You talk to me about these pieces with emotion when I run into you in Paris, Saint-Tropez, Lyon, or elsewhere. The dress for your civil wedding, the trousers you wore on your first job… All these life moments shared between you and us.
That’s how I landed on a famous second-hand website — the one everyone knows — and I started buying, methodically, and patiently, my pieces of clothing, one by one.
Today, some of these pieces are brought back to life in this summer collection. A small pocket that we made in leather two decades ago, the embroidered jewellery theme revisited on a striped poplin, and, of course, the comeback of eyelets.
Then, if by chance, few vintage Victoire are still lying somewhere at your home, offer them a second life, and think about me!
Have a nice weekend,
Camille
