What’s under your big hat?
Hats, horse-drawn carriages, and diadems… there’s no doubt, we really are with the Court of England. Indeed, this week, King Charles III welcomed President Donald Trump for a short State visit, but let’s be careful, as the Royal Family’s (and my) code of conduct states, no politics, please, no politics!
Let’s talk rather about outfits! Sober and strict for the Americans, with Melania Trump wearing a black suit and long skirt with a The Handmaid’s Tale vibe and very large hat covering half her face. It came in contrast with Queen Camila’s total royal blue outfit — a bit old school, indeed, but audacious nonetheless — or the super trendy burgundy worn by the amazingly chic Kate Middleton…
But what people really mentioned a lot was the radical choice of the First Lady of the United States for the State banquet. Exit the sobriety, hello the flamboyant sun yellow dress with a mauve belt. A chromatic shift quite unexpected at Windsor surrounded by formal British ceremony outfits… Dear Melania, it was quite audacious!
But we do know that it’s always sunny in the United States… except when it’s about politics.
